RE: MINI SHOCKY

SFKid,

If you cut the ailerons incorrectly (about 30-40% of people seem to) then the pushrods will not be long enough so my guess is that's what you've done wrong.

RE: MINI SHOCKY

universe,

It's VERY unusual to use a gearbox on a CD motor - almost always direct drive. As we're talking "shockies" here then if it's a single stator motor the common choice is GWS HD 7x3.5 if...

RE: MINI SHOCKY

Yes, you DO need to go brushless for the real performance. I've used the following brushless motors on mine:

AXI 2208/34 - 45g motor - VERY powerful for this plane
PJS300SFR - 32g motor -...

RE: MINI SHOCKY

Rob,

I find 2S is easier to hover on some planes than 3S as it effectively widens the throttle curve around the hover point (cos there isn't so much at the "top end"). So you could try changing...

RE: MINI SHOCKY

Luke,

For AXI2208/34 use a GWS SF 10x4.7 or GWS HD 10x6 with 2S packs of Kokam 340 or Apogee/iRate/Tp 830. Use a GWS SF 9x4.7 if using 3S packs of the same cells (a MUCH better choice!).

RE: MINI SHOCKY

John,

Just received that C&K motor kit from Ansa a couple of days ago - I'm slowly contructing a bit of it each evening. Everything is now glued and I just have to wind the stator tonight. When...

RE: MINI SHOCKY

Mike,

Yup, that happens but the planes still fly GREAT anyway so why worry. However a tip I've seen for other shockie type planes that also have tail twist problems is to cut a 1" strip of 3mm...

RE: ESC's and batteries

Someone beat you to it. There's a "superstar" available to download for Reflex at www.rc-sim.de - it's a blast to fly in the simulator and looks VERY realistic!
