RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

Good Luck to all. I'm going out tomorrow with mine as well. Finally got the tail wheel back in place. Haven't had calm weather in a while now. I'm hoping tomorrow will be less than 10 mph winds...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia,

I'm by no means an expert and at the expense of being wrong here I think there is more information that is needed. Is this engine set up with electronic ignition or is it CDI? If...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

As a matter of fact I do. I went with a carbon fiber rod and it's very tight on the left wing (looking at the rear of plane). I took some emery cloth with my drill and sanded the wing tube and I've...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cstevec, good to hear from you, been a while. Yep I decided to go with Alum spacers instead of nylon. After two flights I checked the bolts and every one of them were beginning to loosen. So,...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, Weather is a little windy but will be flying in an hour or so. The Kat does float and it seems like I have to fly it down. Haven't flown it in a while but did get the motor spacers in last...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

xmarkman60, mine also was warped and had to tape the canopy down first and then glued the cover on the deck area. It works but wished it was better fitting.

I flew the plane last week with...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

scfadam, I am not running a stack on the G-62 and I have not had a problem with it. I don't have an RPM gauge so I'm not sure what the RPM's are but it pulls this plane like a rocket. In fact it...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, yes, the fire wall does have a built in angle to it. I did not have to cut but if you do I would do it with both sides lined up exactly together and make your cut. Don't cut the rear side...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

xmarkman60, sorry, built mine with the G-62 and can't help with a DA-50 question. I ended up making my wing bags. Went to Harbor freight and picked up two furniture type blankets and an hour or so...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, I think you just might if your using just one servo per wing and use Li-Ions or small NiMH batteries. You'll definately need to get a CF wing tube. I think the ZDZ will be about 18 ounces...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, Here are a few pics. Flew today and it was great. Still have a lot of flying to do to get it lined out. Found one engine bolt that came loose and after re-tightening it the plane flew...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, the CA is because it's a 31% and it weights around 19 1/2 lbs. the Kat is 17 3/4 with the G-62 on it dry. Right now I'm running Amsol at 80 to 1 ratio on regular gas. But only do this if...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cobia, too funny! I've been accussed of caring for my planes more than my significant other..... Actually I can't complain, I came home the other day with a 31% Colombo Anderson Extra 300L with a...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

haneydmd, Thanks for the info. I have only flown the plane twice so far, poor weather conditions. I certainly will keep an eye out until I can get some new standoffs built. Just found out one of...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

SfADAM, Good to hear you are getting closer to getting it in the air. I've purchased a new NX 22 X 10 prop but have not put it on yet. Still waiting on weather to clear up some to fly. I hope to...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

Thanks SfADAM, I have the tank sitting on 1/2 inch foam and is right in front of the wing tube. No problems with vibration (fuel foaming etc.) but the G-62 isn't the smoothest engine out there. My...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

Cobia, A friend of mine has a G-38 that is about the same age as yours. Awsome motor. Same thing, will start on the second or third flip after he's choked it and has fuel almost running to the...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cstevec, I think you are right with the ailerons. I checked this morning and it looks like one of them is off a slight amount. Sure did not see that when I put it together. I agree with you on the...

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

cstevec, I weighed the plane today before taking it out and it came in at 17 3/4 pounds with no additional weight added for ballance. I was able to move the batteries around to get the right CG.

RE: 29% Katana-S ARF---Aeroworks!!!

Cobia, Glad you enjoy the pics, sorry bud but, I've only been flying since March this year. Solo'ed around May and I've just started with the big birds. So, flying anything other than 2 or 3...
