RE: WACO YMF

I used Minwax Poly C on both of my Wacos and my Heinkel 51 with very good results. I sprayed flat latex (it sands easier) over the PolyC which worked well, but you must be careful when removing...

RE: WACO YMF

Ckangaroo-
I just checked my Ikon UPF-7 plans and, just as I remembered, there is no CG listed on the plans. The manual helpfully suggests that you check the balance before flying. They just...

RE: WACO YMF

I ended up making a template for the crab stencil out of brass sheet, which made it easier to make multiple stencils. I cut the stencils from blue masking tape over glass and used a swivel head...

RE: WACO YMF

I've noticed that the first run tan shirt is more comfortable to wear than the burgundy second run shirt. I think it has something to do with the size or bulk of the large transfer on the back of...

RE: WACO YMF

I've got a DLE30 in a 1/5th scale Ikon kit of a UPF7 which is the same overall size of the Pica kit. Unflown as yet, but the reputation of the rear mount is said to be more reliable than the old...

RE: WACO YMF

Good evening Waco Brothers. I just returned from the memorial of one of our club members, Carl Hammond, who died a few days ago. Always a sad thing. Carl was the proud owner of a 1/5th scale Cox...

RE: WACO YMF

I also used latex for my Waco. Mine's a UPF-7 from an Ikon N'Wst kit. I used info from http://www.vaillyaviation.com for learning to use the latex paint. He has a very detailed explanation of the...

A couple of pics of my recently completed UPF-7. It's an old Ikon N'Wst kit, modified with custom made fiber glass parts. This is the 2nd plane of a double build project. Sig Koverall with Minwax...

Nice work Arno. I'm with the rest of the guys here-what paint? What masking material? What clear coat? I'm just finishing up paint on my Ikon UPF-7, painted with latex. Looks pretty OK but...

RE: [Awaiting Approval]

OK, here's my take on the WBPU on the Koverall. The first of two planes was brushed with Minwax poly. I noticed that some pooling of the poly collected on the insides of the wing. Probably just my...

RE: WACO YMF

Whew, Glad to hear we aren't going there!
Question on an Ikon N'Wst UPF-7. Surpisingly, the manual and plans don't show the CG. Any info greatly appreciated.
