RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I have 400 flights on my Edge with a Saito 125 and it is perfect at about 9 pounds.

I fly pattern as well as 3D flying and really enjoy this plane. The 125 is plenty of power. Hovers at 50%...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Some sound advise for This Edge. I recommend using "pivot-point hinges" on this and all 60+ size acrobatic Aircraft. I originally used the CA hinges on my Edge but with over 350 flights I have had...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Interestingly I had a metal clevis come loose and it still had the fuel tube in place??? I put them on everything. I'm not goin to risk a $1,000.00 plane for a 1/4" piece of fuel tube

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I have seen a metal clevis, without fuel-tube, disconnect from a control horn. If there is a slight twisting of the control rod during flight this will cause the clevis to open. The vibration...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

It sound like the high and low aren't in balance???
When you are running it on the ground and the high end seems tuned well, idle back for at least 15 to 20 seconds then go full throttle. If it...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

If the Saito 125 is running fine at high speed but dying when you go from idle to high speed, it is too lean on the low end adjustment. Richen 1/8 to 1/4 turn and try again. When at Idle if is...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

The 1/8" piece of feul tubing has worked very well. Thicker and softer than a washer give more resistance to vibration.
This site has some great buys on fasteners and...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

My canopy bolts also were vibrating loose. So I use the 4/40 bolts provided and 1st place a split washer then a regular washer followed by a piece of fuel tubing. The tubing provides an insulator...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I have about 1/2 oz of lead tape on my left wing tip to balance it laterally. To do this, have someone place a finger under the tail while you hold the spinner ( make sure it's not on compression)...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Try moving the Battery as far back as possible. With the length of this fuselage you will probably need 3 to 4 oz. in the tail.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

It flys pattern maneuvers very well. Axial rolls and...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

With a Saito 125 in mine it hovers at less than 1/2 throttle with a 16x6 APC prop and 12.5% nitro.
Come down the runway real slow and pull the nose up and add a little power and it hovers. Add a...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I also mounted a Saito 125 at about 135* angle. To get the required right thrust. I first put some CA on to harden the firewall so the washers wouldn't sink into the wood. I used #8 washers. 1mm...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building
