RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

haha, you're finally convinced :-)

You'll be very happy with the Mojo and the OS50 is a perfect engine for it. How did the 60 size fly? I ordered one a couple of days back. Any suggestions where...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Funny you say that because that was exactly my reaction when someone recommended me the Mojo.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

And you're absolutely right!
I might sound a bit negative about this plane but it's just a matter of what you're used to. I'm also a bit younger than you are I think so our ambitions are different....

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Leave your Showtime in one piece and use the 91 unless you like your other plane much :-) Maybe you should swap servos of the showtime if the ones of the other plane are faster. Faster = better.
OS...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Haha, it's not that bad but I can assure you the Showtime is a much better 3D plane.
I was looking for a plane for a long time because I had a new Saito 100 doing nothing for almost a year and I'm...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Yes, that will work very well. Use a low pitch prop and get the rpm of the engine between where the max torque and power is, so around 14000 rpm. Dono if it'll like 30% but the heli guys use 30% for...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Tom, always check an engine when it's new. It's not a guarantee the valves are OK or that some screws need to be tightened. Check before you run the engine for the first time and possibly tighten...

mcoccia

Check your valve clearance. A rattling sound is normal.
If the engine fails Horizon will repair it without any probs. They fixed my 150 twice for free after some abuse.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

YS has a built in fuel system :-)
Saito 100 20 oz
Saito 125 22 oz
Saito 150 30 oz
+ 1 oz for the pump.

YS 110 24 oz
Has a bit more power than the Saito 125, so actually the total...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Note that there's a very big difference in usage between different nitro percentages. Nitro is an accelerator and high nitro also means richer engine setting and more nitro of course also means less...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

dkurschner and tom,

I always try to get as much as I can from an engine and at some point stock muffler pressure only is becoming a problem because the fuel delivery strongly depends on fuel...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

The 3151s are sufficient for the ailerons, too light for the rudder and elevators, the Hitec 635s are more than enough for the elevators and rudder. Run them at 6 volts if your receiver can handle...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

More nitro = shorter flight time.
I use 30% and get 10 minutes out of 14 oz with a Saito 100.

get yourself a YS110 with the APC 16.5x5W. $325 Run it on CP 30% heli fuel. Use a Sullivan or better a Tettra 14 oz tank and put it on the CG. This engine has more power than the Saito...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Hi Digtman

The OS is a good engine for this plane.
Prop it with an APC 16.5x5W on 15-20% fuel. It should do 9000-9200 rpm on the ground.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Why would you want 2 servos on one channel? You only want this if you eg need 5 servos on a 4-channel radio. That's why a computer radio is a good investment so you can mix...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

What radio are you using? A good radio system is of course very important, but I don't have to tell you that. Even the cheapest Futaba and JR's have servo reversing.
See if you have any moving...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

About the thrust angle.
If your plane isn't flying straight after a minimum of trim something else is wrong.

the best way to check the thrust angle is by flying straight up. If it goes to the...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I think the APC 15x6 is the best choice for you if you have a Saito 100. 16x6 for the 125. Both fit in the TruTurn 2.5" 120-slot spinner. The screw holding the spinner has to be cut to length most of...
