PCM

Sorry to bring this up after the fact, but if you set the failsafe to low throttle you will almost always know when it goes into lockup.

That setting also gives more time for reacquisition of the...

Uhh...

Hey Basin, there are 128 oz in a gallon!

And 5% Cool Power or Omega is $9-10 per gallon in case lots.

And I get 12 min from 16 oz from my 2.10, but thats in the same ballpark.

Oh Sure

The choice of an engine is entirely up to the modeler. Glow and gas each have real advantages and disadvantages, but I get tired of hearing about all the money you can save going with gas.

If...

Cooling

The problem usually is that the cooling air coming in the left side of the cowl goes straight out the exit hole without getting anywhere near the engine, and the air coming in the engine side goes...

CG with tank centered

Start at 30% of the wing chord. 3 3/16" from the leading edge at the wingtip. You may want to move it back a little later, or you may not, depending on your flying style.

Tank at CG

Depends on how big your tank is and what type of flying you do. In the "Patty" a 24 oz tank will move the CG back as much as 1/2" during a flight. A 16 oz, maybe 5/16".

If you fly precision...

No bulkhead cutting is required. The clearance cutouts you see above the tank tray in the photos are provided by the factory. Take the canopy off yours and take a look.

Fancman

The tray in the article has legs extending from all four corners to the bottom of the fuselage to help support the tank. I'd be a little concerned that yours might break loose during a high-G...

The current (June) issue of RCM has a review of the Patty that shows how to install a center mounted tank and has a sidebar discussing how this change affects the manufacturers CG recommendation.

Re: MrMcFarlandM Moki #'s

7650 at sea level with the Perry regulator pump and a 20x8W APC on 5% Omega with an OS "F" plug.

Monkeyhead, you can lean the engine out almost to peak rpm with the pump, because the engine won't...

Tube

Hey fellas, metal expands when it gets hot and shrinks when it gets cold. Cardboard doesn't. If you want the aluminum tube to come out of the cardboard sleeve, you're going to have to shrink the...

Monkeyhead

Your photo shows the smaller 180/210 Bisson muffler. The high volume muffler has a larger can.

If you can't get it to richen up BELOW 6400, it sounds like your low speed adjustment is too lean. ...

Monkeyhead

If you can make the engine go rich at full throttle, the fuel tubing is OK.

If not, you will need to go into the tank and change the aluminum tube and the interior fuel line to something larger...

Nope

Heavy is not the problem. My Patty weighs 15 pounds 7 oz and the wing loading is 30 oz/sq ft. Could it be that the heavier she is the better she sticks?

Has anybody tried changing the wheels or...

Bounce, bounce...

I've flown my Patty about 10 flights now and I'm slowly getting it dialed in. She's the best flying plane I have ever flown, but I can't get her to stay down when I land.

I have been flying for...
