RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

Yeah I did something like that.

You just have to get the end point set up before you put the servo in place, since you cannot let the control horn move beyond a given point, because of the...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

If I recall correctly to avoid having to use a servo reverser or a TX mix, I made both servos face the same direction.

That means I had to slightly offset one servo a bit when I installed it in...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

Let's see...

You'll need two longer extensions for the tail servos... I think I used 14 or 16" ones for that.

You'll need short 8-10" extensions for the aileron servos.

A 10" extension...

BTW: another thing I would recommend doing....

The cowl is pretty thin IMHO...

I used some light fiberglass cloth to re-inforce it.

I cut the cloth into 1-2" strips.

I prepared...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

You don't need it to be super thick.

Something like this will do fine and you may be able to get away with something smaller.

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

Remember that you only need to cut out a thin sliver of covering to provide enough adhesion to the wood.

The cut need not be as fully wide as the CF rod.

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

One simple fix...

On one particular plane I had assembled the plane and flown it.

The elevator was not removable after assembly as it was glued in place.

I did not feel like damaging...

Re: Tail

No I haven't modded the tail though I did consider doing so given it's rather large size.

You could add CF support "struts" which will look unscale-like... or if you desired...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

BTW: Go back a few of my posts and you'll see that I had to adjust the wing incidence.

The plane was difficult to control because of the climb, on my first flight. I recommend you do the same...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

The actual power draw is determined by the prop you use.

Since you seem to be getting into electrics more than the beginner level, I HIGHLY advise you to obtain a good RC Watt meter... NOT an...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

Let's work it out...

That's a 4000mAh 20C rated pack with a rated 30C burst.

So assuming 20C x 4000mA, that pack can sustain 80A @ 14.8v

80A x 14.8v = 1184 watts.... so you have plenty...

Re: Retracts

That's not true.

The wings are glued together and form a single wing unit.

You can remove the wings from the plane, which leaves the servo on the wing itself along with...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

That motor sounds a bit too anemic for me.

Using a 4S setup would put you in the right power range, but the KV rating means that the prop will spin @ 16500 RPM which is unrealistic for an EP...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

I've had MANY flights using a Monster Power 32 on mine.

I posted this on their review page.....

My plane originally tended to climb A LOT above a certain airspeed... so much so that...

RE: Nitro Planes CMP P28 Piper Arrow ARF

Ouch!

If the inside box was that badly bent, I can imagine what the shipping box looked like!

Mine came with a broken rudder and badly broken canopy.

I repaired the rudder easily, but...
