RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Pegger, when I ran mine, I had the diffs at 5k front, 10k center and 3k rear. That will help bring the back end around in the corners. Pick up the SS shock pistons (white for front and black for...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

This may sound odd, but the difference in steering response between right and left may be more a matter of how you control the wheel. It's kind of a subconsious thing, but it's something I picked up...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Nope, KO Propo PDS-2368 and 2367. The 5996 worked well though, it never felt like it was straining to stop the truck.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

I was running the Hitecs, 5955 for steering and 5996 for throttle/brake. They worked well until the weather killed them. To be honest, you don't need the strongest servo for th/br. Use something...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

The 17t clutch bell may be the issue. Even though those are large engines, you can easily kill the bottom end with too tall gearing. Do you lack punch coming out of the corners, or is it loosing...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

No typo, it's the real deal. On the other hand, if they did try to claim they made a mistake, I would hold them to it. For what is in that kit, the price is pretty much criminal.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

HPI is releasing the Hellfire SS packaged with the standard K4.6 engine at roughly $550.0 , so the price of the full on kit presumably had to come down some. The current price is still extremely...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

For a good steering servo, try the Hitec 5955. It's about the strongest out there and has good speed as well. Many people assume that a servo that is simply faster will work, but if it doesn't have...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Speedtechnitro has entire sections devoted to the cars and trucks they sell. Right now, they make a line of in house aluminum and CF pieces for the HF.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Right now, I have to go with the SS machined towers from HPI, or the BCE towers. I'm running the SS towers without any problems.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Sweet. Sounds like you had a good night.

240 is right on target for the K4.6, as long as the power is good and there's a decent smoke trail from the engine. The more you run, the less you'll...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Good job man. Remember, if you can't catch them, outlast them.

Turn marshalling is an art. Can't tell you how many times I've been whacked because I wasn't paying attention. :)

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Picking up the the HPI chassis brace/ lower engine mount might solve this. I'm running one and have had any problems yet.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Just a few answers to your questions:

Nitropowered92; Unless you're running on a large track, stick with the .21 sized engines. .28's are generally overkill for arena trucks. I own a Picco...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

wmff82 is right, it's generally better to tune by the smoke trail from the pipe than to directly rely on the temp gun. Aim for a consistent white mist from the pipe under power and fine tune from...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

The K4.6 is very underrated, but the Picco will have an edge on it. The K4.6 is generally more reliable. If you're looking for a good "training engine" go for the HPI. It can push just about...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

It's official, the Hellfire SS is hitting the distribution channels. Tower has it on back order. Can only expect the price to come a bit.

I was at work earlier, hence the short post. This could be considered the full length rant.

Some of what I am about to say is just speculation, so it may be off mark. Correct me if I've gone...

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Try the rod ends for the LST and LST2. They stay tight after some serious abuse. Their only drawbacks are that they're a bit shorter, so you may need longer turnbuckles, and the balls are a pain to...
