Indeed the track does seem pretty broken up in most sections (only one smooth spot).

Beg to differ!

Try RC Mart or Stella Models - both Hong Kong based. My preference is Stella but they don't always have what you want.

Dimblum, you said you did the math for optimum gearing, can you explain a bit?

I presume there is a target motor speed for a target road speed and you calc your way between the two to get gear...
