RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Actually, Rick's earlier posts were correct when he said the CG should be 7.5 inches. He did mess up on the one just before mine.

You need to make the initial flights at 7.5 inches. When you...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

My Cermark F-18 and F-16 V3 prop jets both came with air up/air down retracts.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Yeah, that looked pretty sluggish alright. It would have been nice if I could have heard the engine instead of that crappy, loud music..

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Sounds to me like you have a crappy OS 91FX. A 13x8 or 13x9 will load the motor more and turn less rpm than the 12x8; therefore, you will go slower. Try less diameter and/or more pitch. Put a tach...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Ah, now I know why your engine didn't sound like a Jett 90LX in your video. It's that 13x10 prop! According to Jett's website, your engine has the shorter muffler and higher port timing. It...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

What brand and style of 12x8 are you running? Not all 12x8's are created equal..

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

The cheap way out is to put a Magnum .91 two stroke in it. They're about $130..

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

I would fill the holes in the mounts with hardwood dowels and drill new holes. A friend of mine cut a couple strips of aluminum, drilled and tapped holes for the engine mounting screws, and...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

No problem here. We're just having a healthy discussion... :D

I've actually been convinced to mount remote needles on the firewall, something I probably wouldn't have tried on my own.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Yes, mounting the assembly to the hot crankcase where it could heat the fuel could definitely be a problem. I'll go with firewall mounting. Thanks..

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

You mean the instructions that go on for a half a page and 4 paragraphs telling you how great the one (or two) holes are that allow you to mount the assembly in 16 different right-angle positions and...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

I don't see where he says that on his site. I do see where he sells a "Remote backplate assembly" for $25. Does he intend for you to mount that on the firewall or on the engine? It appears to me...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Uhmm, and? I doubt the firewall vibrates that much less. Vibration doesn't seem to affect needles in carburetors. If your needle becomes a blur, you might consider balancing the prop and spinner. ...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Why not mount it on the backplate as it was designed to be?

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

Ok, so either the long line is kinked/crimped or the first T has a blockage in it.

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

My Cermark gear wouldn't extend when I first installed them due to binding. I had to disassemble them and redo the 90 degree bend in the aluminum plates.

Perhaps you need to concentrate on the...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

I usually run a 12x6 APC or a 12x6 Zinger wood prop on my Cermark F-18 with a Magnum .91 and a long Jett .90L muffler. The Magnum will turn them about 13,300 rpm on the ground and almost 15,000 in...

RE: THE NEW CERMARK F-16 BUILD IT BETTER, STRONGER, AND FASTER!!!

I broke the nose off my Cermark F-18P on takeoff. I repaired it and have flown it several times since. You can read about the crash and how I repaired it beginning here:
