That was quite a few years ago. By the way I still have both Enforcers, although I rarely fly them any more. The DF one has over 150 flights on it and hasn't been flown in about 5 years. The...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

The only pictures of my speed brake are in the referenced thread. Just cut a hole in the bottom of the plane, reinforce it, then hinge in a stiff surface. You'll have to locate your controls and...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Allen,

In this thread there is some discussion and pictures of a couple different speed brakes. Mine was originally 6" X 1 3/4" on the bottom. It wasn't as effective as I wanted. After a number of...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Hello Strykaas,

I noticed that the speed brake was down as I was starting the take-off roll, so I put it up right after that.

One of the main gears hung up so I did a two wheel landing in...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

For you Enforcer fans out there; here's a video of my 200th flight.

I had to slow down a bit because the cameraman was having trouble keeping up with it.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

I used 1/64 ply on the outside and thin fiberglass sheet on the inside.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Anthony,

Those engines and fans vibrate a LOT ! I suggest that you sheet the outside of the pod with 1/64 ply. It might seem sturdy now but you'll need the extra structure and rigidity.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

I don't understand your statement. The only way to move the CG forward is to add weight to the nose, or remove weight from the rear. That would make it less tail heavy.

Balance it at the 1/2...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

I agree with Bill. Sheet the entire wing with 3/32", mine is done that way too. After sanding 1/16" would be too thin.

HS85's might be a little weak for the ailerons. I used 6 HS225's, two...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Bill,
He needs a Byron type starting wand that will engage a 12 mm. bolt. If any of the firms you mentioned happen to have a starting wand it would be the type for a tractor fan (BVM, Dynamax,...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Byron doesn't make them any more. You could try putting a Wanted ad in the RCU Classified section. I'm sure that there are a number of them out there that are no longer being used. Theirs is nice...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

There is no special starter nut. The "prop nut" that comes with the engine is used to hold the fan rotor on the engine. My starter wand has a 12 mm. deep socket (for OS91) on the end of it that...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Do not use a pump. They don't work very well with DF engines. Your plumbing is correct but I recommend putting the 24 oz. tank as close to F8 as you can and put the header tank in front of it. 24...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Congrats on your maiden flight. I have 120 flights on my DF and 154 on my Turbine Enforcer they both fly great. I like the turbine better for lot of reasons. Besides the extra power digital servos...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Flightjockey,
Your Enforcer looks good. They're great planes and I'm sure you will thouroughly enjoy it. 140 mph is a more realistic top speed. You should move your CG forward at least 1/2" from...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Marwen,
Check out Spring Air retracts at http://www.retracts.com/index.htm
Their 100, 200, 300, & 700 series are good for planes up to 15 lbs. If your 60" ws delta is going to weigh over 15#...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Antony,
You don't need functional rudders. It's really personal preference and how you intend to fly it.

I have Spring Air retracts on both my Enforcers. Make sure your retract mounts are...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Would a rossi .81 DF motor fly one of these planes well ?
Yes, not as fast as a 91 but it would be OK.

Do you have to have a fan setup ?
No, it is designed to use a pusher prop. ...

apalset,
Sorry to hear about your Enforcer. What type of hinges did you use? I've had good luck with the Hayes Polypropylene Hinges on both of my Enforcers and a few other planes.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Peter,
Looks good. Have you flown it yet?

You should move the CG .5 to 1" forward of the plan location due to the extended nose.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Yes, it would be enough to push it, but it would be nothing to write home about. If you really want to have a fun airplane put an OS 91 DF in it.

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Just about done with my second Enforcer. This one is powered by a Ram 500 turbine. I hope to do the maiden flight in a week or two. My DF Enforcer will do 140-150 mph, the turbine one should be a...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

Make sure that you have a slight nose up attitude as it sits on the runway or it will never get off. Measure the height of the center of the wing LE at the fuse. It needs to be higher than the...

RE: Balsa USA enforcer

I have 4 control surfaces and 4 servos. All 4 move up and down (+/- .5 inch) for pitch control, but only the outboard surfaces move (+/- .5 inch) for aileron roll control. The plane flys...
