RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

What a pity, the DI is a great car, you should try to keep it around...
In any case, I think you should revise your auction description to be less misleading on speed estimates, there is no way the...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

You don't need an 8000mah lipo to last a race lasting 7mn10, I'm sure some IB4200 would do the trick easily.

It's all in my post, the one you quoted... :)

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

For info, those braces are made from 1/16th" thick aluminium, so the thickness is standard for braces.
I checked after installing the rear inner brace for motor movement and I can still set my...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Actually no, normally shaped braces can fit the motor side fine, no need for custom made ones, I just wanted my braces to be made of aluminium and not graphite. Also, they can be considered "off the...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Yep that's exactly what it is. 30fps is perfect but 15fps is still very doable (you can even extrapolate the car's position between frames to get a more precise measurement if your video source has a...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

GPS are not super accurate either. Personally I think the best speed estimate anyone can get for their RC is the old "film it between 2 points and check the timestamps on the video" method. It's...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Whoa, that's some fast shipping alright lol (and on a sunday too). You'd have a lot of positive feedbacks as an ebay seller with that kind of speed...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Thanks Lunchboxer, PM sent!

I believe rcxboy's pic ran out of bandwidth because I could see it fine yesterday but not now. He had blue balloons that he set up under the springs.

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

No, it's not a towerhobbies typo, I found that same wrench on japanese rc websites (#53602) and it is a 3mm wrench.
The 4mm wrench by Tamiya (#49197) has apparently been discontinued, can't even...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

I'm using balloons too, but I'm getting ready to change and get some some socks made of spandex/elastic fabric. The balloons do impede the movement of the springs a little, no matter how or where you...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Ah yes, I see. (if you care about symmetry at all, you might want to flip around some of your turnbuckles)

So can you let me know if you have some extras of those wrenches? If not, I'll just...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Whoa, what a shame to have those nice turnbuckles, and not even installed... :) You still use the stock ones on your DI then?

Yeah, I originally was looking for a wide 4mm wrench like what...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Rcxboy, thanks for the links. The silver one doesn't list any size though, and the black one would be my best bet with 4, 4.5, 5 and 6mm but they don't say which of the 4 sizes is the hex hole and...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

I don't get it, I am certain there was none in my DI kit. Did you get that one in your DI kit? Do you remember?
That sucks if it comes in some kits and not others, especially since the DI is a...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Free? From where? It was in the kit or the turnbuckle set? I didn't get any wrench in either... :(

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

To any DI user who has the tamiya turnbuckles kit: what wrench do you use on them? I was disapointed to find that tamiya didn't include a wrench with the set and I don't want to scrape them all up by...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

That's a prime example of a too loose diff. You don't need stronger parts, just make sure you adjust the next one tighter. Also, if you don't have one, invest in a slipper set and make sure the...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

To anyone using 3racing rear diff shaft: are we still supposed to superglue the rings or is the metal shaft strong enough and designed to not use glue anymore?
I'd rather avoid using glue if I have...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

The a-arms seem really sturdy. If you already bent pin arms in that crash, the a-arms were unscathed and you upgrade to aluminium mount, I think the weak point will be the hinge pins.

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

I just measured my stock DI springs and they are identical to the hop ups in diameter but shorter in length. They don't fit on the 3racing shocks, well at least not well, the rear is slightly too...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Lunchboxer, thanks for the measurements.

For info I just measured my 3racing shocks: (no plastic package for my measurements)
Front spring outer diameter: 16mm (0.63" )
Rear spring outer...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Something just came to my attention about 4wd: how does the tranny deal with slightly different tire size front/rear or different balloning ratios between front and rear?
On a loose surface the...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

Thanks, nice article. Even though I didn't find a direct answer to my question in it, I think I figured out why freespinning allows better grip. It's probably because the front wheels when used as...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..

A couple Qs to the DI crowd:
- does the tamiya spring set work on the 3racing shocks? Are the hopups tamiya shocks the same diameter front and back? If anyone could measure the springs in the hop...
