RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Neurotex, I had the same problem with my AA's battery. It got to the point that the charger would cut off quickly and I would get just a minute or two of flight time. I tried increasing the power...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

GT5500,

The bobbing or porpoising is technically called a phugoid and is a normal flight dynamic of any ariplane, some more than others. It looks like a stall, but the airplane never actually...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

The plane works wll in biplane configuration with no wing struts at all. But since you have removed and are replacing your lower wings, you may need some struts for extra support. I think a thin...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Dan, Thanks for the full rundown on the planes you built. It sounds like that large Sirius glider is a real winner. It also sounds like they did a great job with the stock AA in terms of making it...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

DanPeoples,

You have some interesting airplanes there. I like the idea of doing this with cheap ARF kits.

Which configuration do you think is the best indoor flyer (most...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

For the last two posters with a difference in thrust between the engines:

-First play with the trum knob a bit. The trim knob generally does not work perfectly, as turning it full right will...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Has anybody tried adding flaps to a mono-wing modified AA?

I recently took the lower wings off of my curent AA and I like the way it flies, but I also let the little neighborhood kids fly it...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I think the AA electronics are a bit too heavy for a true living room flyer like the Plantraco Butterfly. Actually, the stock AA is just about the slowest, most manuverable way to fly the...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

"Anybody put them into some kind of mini glider yet to ride thermals?"

Some people have put a larger wing on the Aero Ace which makes it very floaty. One method is to remvoe the lower wings and...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Yes, both of those things will be fine and probably reduce drag and make the plane a little faster (especially the struts) and probably also require a bit more space. It will not be very noticeable,...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

The Challenger and Extreme have 3 channels. They are throttle, pitch and steering (yaw). The V-Tail can handle pitch and steering just fine. Pitch is implemented by deflecting both ruddervators...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

My two and a half year old son is just dying to fly my AA. I think I am going to put him in the middle of a big field sometime and let him have at it. Who knows. It might be some kind of a record.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Thanks for the tip. I have been researching that carefully and am strongly considering their T-Hawk. It seems to be a real favorite. I am also considering the similar, but inferior Aerobird...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

How to loop the AA:

Start with a stock AA. No adjustments to the center of gravity. I was flying a standard biplane with no changes. In that form they tend to do that porpoising thing pretty...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I could get my first AA out past 300 feet and not lose control, which was as far as I wanted to let it go. But my current one seems to run out of range in less than 100 feet, so that is a little...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

It may have blown out of the tree by now. Look around. And it helps to have a return label on the plane.

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

The track is a good idea. That is how the Wright Brother's did their historic first flight. I think they used one rail from a rail road and for wheels they used the hubs of bicycle wheels which...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Removing the lower wings definitely makes it faster and more able to handle a little wind once you correct the CG. It's a real nice flyer that way. However, I find I can fly a stock biplane version...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

You can buy the plane online at www.aeroacemods.com for $30 + whatever they charge for shipping.

They also have some advice on extending the antenna and will send a bit of antenna wire to you...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

That information is in this thread somewhere. I know the thread is so long that it is impractical to read through at this point. If I recall, you get some fine wire from a magnet coil and add it to...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Does anybody know what all the bumps are for that are all over the fuselage and wing surfaces? Is this just an artifact of the molding process or is there some aerodynamic purpose?

They seem...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

If you are having trouble with the AA turning all by itsself, be sure to adjust the trim knob on the transmitter before trying anything else. And be aware that the trim dial can be a little fidgety....
