I would not use the threaded inserts. They will not have the holding power of the blind nuts. The course thread on them will crack the ply firewall around the hole.

If you can use the old mount without drilling more holes in it, it will be OK. If you need to drill more holes to match the motor, and need to shave is down a bit, Iit may end up to weak. I...

I built a plane a couple years back and had a Mag 52 four stroke in it. I later decided to go to a Mag 70 four stroke. I ran into the same issues you are. What I did was use a new motor mount that...
