That was the same problem I was having, Spur gear getting hot and melting to C/B still it lasted 6months with a .21 engine same with front diff that finaly gave up at the same time....

thats what I did got an engine from e-bay put it on a standard savage engine mount made sure the gears mesh and drilled 4x holes.. flip the rota-start 180 deg and it all fitted o.k.

Friday 13, drop a savage engine in you mt2 it easy enuf I did mine on very low budget and got great results.
