That is why I gave the above link. It probably has all your airfoils already in it but if not, Wala, you can import dat files, look at them or print them.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

smoknrv4,
Do you have Profili2 software? It has most airfoils in it's database and allows you to print them or export to CAD.

Even in Freeware mode it...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

Yep, at least an hour on that one. [8D]
Your pieces were a lot bigger then when my wing exploded from flutter.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

One thing at a time. When I get this one to 200 mph I will get right on it. :)

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

I did it by hand at first but it got old quick when folks wanted me to figure there in flight rpm for them. Thats when I worked out the spreadsheet formula.

I believe Terry has a program that...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

The equation is an Excel formula that you can copy and paste into Excel if you have it. C2 and D2 are the cells in Excel where you put FComing and FGoing.
If you do not have excel you can do it...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

Print screen by itself copies the entire screen to the clipboard. Alt and print screen copies only the active window to the clipboard. You do not see it happening but it is there. Open paint and...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

That wing coming apart in flight would have been interesting. [X(]
It sounds like you got your PC to run WaveoScope, great.
While WaveoScope is active you can press "alt" then "Print Screen" to...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

Looks good. This may be a real winner if you can get the weight down to maybe 3.5 lbs or maybe even heavy. If you are getting anywhere close to 180 you are on the right track IMO. You don't waste...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

It looks like they could be made into canoe covers though. Tough crowd?? :D I think many of us have gone the extra mile because of the RCU audience.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

My experience is that anything that interferes with the exhaust exit could cost rpm. Even a short but oversize exhaust deflector cost me a couple hundred rpm on one of my Jetts with a standard tuned...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

I am not aware of any rules saying the exit has to be round. Unless the pipe sticks through that crack it would be messy.

I was able to right click and save the PDF file to my hard drive. Attached is the photo on the bottom of page two.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

The engine cowling looks great but the servo setup reminds me of something HighPlains said not long ago. The shape of the tail end of a turd is just as important as the front end (not a quote).

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

There were a couple of German speed cup contenders that didn't look too different from what you are doing. Should move right along.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

If that first shot was straight down then the total fuse length is 19.35" long. If that is not close then the pic was at an angle and my #'s are not valid. I should have asked for the CG also but I...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

post two pics and we will know if we are barking up the wrong tree.

Edit - One measurement would be good, like the wingspan.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

If it wasn't for flying like a trainner after the engine was off, I would wonder about the vertical tail size. It would also seem the prop blast over the fin would make things better if the fin was...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

Upthrust would increase P-factor which causes left turn. Lateral balance issues can easily be trimmed out. Yep, keep looking.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

That looks real good cp. I hate to add lead and that little extra tail may be a good thing. Do you do the math for vertical tail volume or go by "looks about right"? My last "looks about right"...

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

You do have to add 30%, I believe, to the wing loading to get effective wing loading since part of the wing is acting as the tail.

RE: .40 SIZED FLYING WING

Just last year the German speed freaks would tell you how a high aspect ratio wing on a long fuse was the only way to go. The flying wing was not an option, especially the delta. Now the top...
