RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

After having the kit for 3 years, I finally dug it out last month and got it ready to fly. This thread has been very helpful and I appreciate all that everyone else has posted.

I read of the...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Good news! Just got the new and improved stab and rods for my TT Rare Bear and must say that I am VERY happy with the revised pieces. They appear to be quite stout and I will not hesitate to use...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Size, weight, and gear length all but require the use of metal pneumatic retracts over the plastic mechanical ones they recommend. I contacted Robart, found out what they used on their TT Rare Bear,...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Greetings-

Has Ace released an improved stab for this model? Stab failures seem to be pretty common and I'm wondering if Ace has done anything about it yet.

I got an early one (November...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

I fully agree with the statement "for those of us pushing the envelope you need to expect to make mods"; that's why I'm making a new stab. The stock stab might be OK for sport engines (with or...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

JWORTNER,

After reading your stab-failure post I had a close look at mine: the root rib popped out easily (not much glue) so I pulled the sheeting off one side to have a look.

The first 2...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Just started my kit tonight-

Thanks for all the info about the stab. It looks like I've got one of the later ones since the first 2 ribs are ply. The carbon tubes were a tight fit and required...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Robart says they used the 551RS retracts, 661L & 661R struts, and the 188VRX air system in their TT Rare Bear.

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Yeah, I saw that plate on there and it looks like it's just there to get the recommended retract units (plastic mechanicals) flush with the bottom wing skin. They'll come out real easily but I...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Gee, those Robart 550s look like they leave the wheel sticking out quite a bit. Did you use the 85 degree or the 90 degree retracts? Theoretically (with dihedral) the 85s should work but the 90s...

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

WOW: 24 pages of postings and still counting.

Which retracts work best in this kit? I'd like to use the Robart 550-series if they'll fit. I want the wheels and Robostruts to fit all the way...
