It does state in the instruction that it may be necessary to redrill the holes for the hinges to correct alignment. I did it for the same reason that you are seeing

thanks for encouraging me to go through my garbage again. I found the canopy sliders. Hurray!!! Saved me lots of time trying to make them on my own.
