RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Got a few more flights in this weekend and getting the motor dialed in more. I'm up to 20,400RPM on 7.5X8 Q40 prop on 15% still. Motor finally sounds like it's connecting on the pipe but may be...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Why not just add some plywood skids to the bottom of the plane; one near the nose and two out by the tips. If you land on asphalt then you don't have to worry about rocks and grass damaging your...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Neu Motors makes the 1907/1Y. They are getting used a bit in ducted fans now. Try his motor calculator @ www.neumotors.com
or try here too: http://brantuas.com/ezcalc/dma1.asp

Video finally done. Enjoy!

ps: any of the well tuned ears out there... this run was fairly rich (about 1200RPM low) but it still doesn't seem to...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Well today I got some more good flights in!:D I also got some decent video of the Demon Tiger which should be uploaded by tomorrow night (sorry to tease). I am still working on getting the motor to...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Maiden Report!! I guess it was a good weekend for maidens on the Demons. :D Mine went quite well requiring only a few clicks of down and a couple on the ailerons. I flew about 1/2" forward on the...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I have been working steady on the Demon and finally finished covering. There are really only minor things to finish up before I get to fire it up and go for a maiden. I did another Tiger scheme to...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Thanks guys! I'm going to get it flying first minus the 'full cowl' but the front of the motor behind the spinner has a smooth transition right now. I am finishing up beefing up the mount rails and...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I have been having too much fun flying and taking the kid to the park/beach/zoo/circus so progress was slower than usual. I made up some time figuring out my servo mounts, linkage covers, and...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I plan to smooth out the area behind the spinner and blend it back into the airframe. I will likely cut a ply ring and then build off of that.

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I was wondering if anyone would notice those tiny winglets. I was just day-dreaming with with one of the winglets off of my recently dusted Beach Bumm flying wing. I will be laying up some carbon...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I am gaining progress on my build. It's going fast now that the sheeting is started. Figuring out the tank compartment and future aerodynamic cowlings took some head scratching time. I will be...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Thanks, I did find one here on RCU a guy was selling. This will help my build immensely. Now to drill some holes in the ribs for spars and start collecting my wood together.

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I am now in the head scratching mode with a potential issue. If you look at this pic you'll see the straight rear exhaust manifold and an 8oz tank behind the motor. This is everything lined up on...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Well Mike, I actually broke out my Demon plans and cut my ribs out tonight. I need to order a couple of spars but I believe I have most of the other wood in my pile-o-wood collection. I had fired...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Goose, I would be leary about using a 60 amp esc and a peak amp draw of 80 amps. The issue is that when running at partial throttle you actually heat the esc up more than when at full throttle. So...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Yep, Carlsbad. We don't have grass but we have a smooth dirt runway. We're near the beach, not the desert ;)

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

Mike, a fellow pilot at my local field picked one of your kits up and I'm excited to take a closer look. I need something noisy to go with the over powered Shrikes at my field... He's gonna use an...

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

The Axi is a great line of motors but maybe not the right piece of equipment for a 200+mph goal. I'd look at a Neu Motor if you're willing to spring for a big Axi.

RE: (Something Fast?) Delta Build Thread

I guess you won't know until you try but there is going to be a lot of potential 'P' factor with a 12-13" prop. It may want to torque a bunch on launch with short coupled verticals. I'd make...
