Look the point is that infractions are always or almost always done with a citation or ticket. Misdemeanors usually mean they have to book you. Yes there are exception for both but not many.

Well I have never heard of a misdemeanor taken care of by a citation. It may not require jail time, but they take you in and book you, fingerprints and all.
