RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Just needed to remove some material from the insides to allow the slightly wider retract units to fit, maybe 30mins work tops for both sides.

Wheel and brake units are Electron either via your...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

1. No, but minimal bearer work is required for them to fit.

2. I use the Behotec pneumatics but will be changing to Electron electronic brakes shortly.....just makes sense.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I always get 7-8 mins regardless of throttle use with a 140, fuel left on landing varies between a couple of go arounds to 50% full fuz tank. This is using the saddles + fuz tank. Wing tank is used...

Might be worth changing to internal kero start?

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Yes, I think the Flash/UF was originally designed around the older 110 mm cased 80-120 size engines so you should be ok. I was quite surprised how much room there is with the 140 I'm using.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I install mine at the rear of the engine, just drill a hole through the jetpipe carbon bell. Also found flattening the end of the tube into a wide slot shape also helps with the smoke production....

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Ok, no sure why that is, maybe you have a rogue bypass molding? Just to be sure I timed a remove/install which took less than 10 seconds for both. Possibly my my install is not as neat?

With the lower half of the bypass in place fit the 2 into 1 joiner followed by the upper half of bypass, wrap around Velcro holds it in place.

Yes, nice to have some good intelligent opinions without anyone getting offended, though it's quite often the case that opinions ned to have a qualifying note that it is just an opinion, etc. :D...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I don't think that is a snap, the airspeed is way too high. Something else is happening there.

Go for struts with compression springs...Behotec, no issues with stretching or weak springs.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

The only reason a tank will implode is because the inward vent is too restrictive, so long as the space left by the fuel can easily be replaced with vent air and the feed lines through the series...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

That's the way I do it, (series), with 1/4 inch Tygon on everything including vent, resulting in zero fuel feed issues. I also only run my fuel bowser pump on a single cell to ensure the thin fragile...

Phil, yes, I understand what you are saying and it's on my list of things to try but I'm not sure if it's treating a symptom rather than curing the root cause?

Throttle position does not seem to...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I will try moving my CG rearwards to see if it helps. To my mind with the elevators at neutral any tendency to dive/climb should be minimal if the CG is in a comfortable position.

I'm nor sure...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Ahhh....so that's why mine does it? Could have sworn the CG was pretty much by the book.

Does that mean it will dive inverted at full power?

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Just put more flap on till you get big drag, she then slows down a treat, no need for reflex. If you need crow you are not putting enough flap on.

It's amazing how a big proportion of the jet...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Been flying them in my UF, maybe 20 flights to date with no issues, they do inspire confidence. Bit like kerostart, once you have used it you don't want to go back.
