RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I've been thinking a lot about how i'd love to have a giant scale Revolver suitable for a gasoline engine. I started a thread/poll: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9535452/tm.htm

I also...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

A 1.60 2-stroke would be quite a bit of engine for most 70" airplanes unless they were extremely heavy.

The 70" Revolver will fly fine on a .60 2-stroke or .91 4-stroke. For alittle more...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I have that combo on my kit built super Sportster 60. It is a fairly heavy plane and it will climb straight up almost effortlessly with no sign of giving up. The Revolver should do even better.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I got my Dubro gear installed tonight. The drill bit wandered a little causing one wheel pant to be at a slightly different angle than the other but nothing too bad. If I didn't know better I would...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I have some dubro gear on the way too. I didn't feel like driving across town to the LHS and I ordered some stuff anyhow so I got the gear too. Hopefully it will make me a little less nervous about...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

The dubro gear looks great. My LHS stocks those if I remember right. looks like I will be getting a set this weekend along with some better wheels.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I have a similar problem. Our run way is asphalt and it still likes to tip onto the nose. I don't do it all the time, some landings are great. I'm still learning to start my approaches farther out...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

You can do what I did, just screw the first one up then buy another and do it better. Seriously though, it's just a matter of careful planning and cutting a little at a time until you get it right....

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I have a slimline muffler on my .55-AX and there are no back pressure problems at all. I've also ran the same muffler on .46-AX's with no problems.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I'm currently flying with an APC 12x7 on my .55-AX. The 12x6 might be a starting point but definitely experiment until you find what works best.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Same here, I just put a cup under the muffler to catch the excess.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Just follow the instructions on the throws in the beginning. They are more than adequate. Then if you want more after you know how the plane flys, you can add it. Be careful on the elevator though....

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Mine couples very little. It is easily managed without having to mix it out in the radio.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Is it ever. I've never had a plane that would do such an impressive knife edge, so easily.

Mine is set up according to the manual and it flys just fine.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Just make sure you harden the holes with CA and it will work fine. A few people have been stepping up to #4 scews for added insurance.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I flew mine on several times Saturday and did notice the tendancy to dip to the right just before touchdown. I just have my ailerons on a Y-harness right now, maybe I'll plug both into the receiver ...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

Is it just me or has anyone else thought that a bigger Revolver would be cool? maybe a .60 size? .90 size? Giant scale?

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I've noticed that it likes to enter a spin to the right better than the left. Wonder why? Mine also has good lateral balance and it is trimmed out well.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I mounted my receiver battery right on the engine box like the directions show. With a 4.8V, 1400mAh NiCad pack it balanced perfect with no need for any weight. This is an extremely well thought out...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I'm running an APC 12x7 on my .55 right now. The 12x8 would be the one I try first.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

You may have to use the alternate receiver battery location under the servo tray to get the CG right with the heavier engine. That wouldn't be a big deal since the plane is so well thought out and...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I'd say 4.9 out of 5. I have to ding it .1 because the anti-rotation dowel hole in one wing root wasn't exactly perfect. Seriously though, this is an unbelievably nice ARF.

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

The plane seems really slippery to me; it takes a little longer to slow down once you cut the throttle than most planes I have flown. I have to start my approach a little further out than I am used...

RE: New Great Planes Revolver

I put Futaba S3151 digitals in mine and they work fine. This is a really nice flying airplane so I would try to use some decent, precision servos. They don't have to be the most expensive, just not...
