RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

Had the same problem myself today. My Giant Stick went in today due to a radio problem. I was at a fly-in and several planes were lost because of some type of interference. This was not a normal...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

Wow, SBrian, what a rash of both bad and good luck! Good luck in the sense that nothing happened to the plane. Glad to hear that it is all in one piece! Depending on what yours weighs, I would bet...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I think I am going to use a set for the Sukhoi. They are made for 4" wheels and the Super Sportster wheel pants will be a tight fit for 4" wheels. Otherwise, I don't see much difference... of course...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

Yes, it it the Giant Super Sportster with the 80" span. It has a Brillelli 46cc gas on it which weighs 56oz. This is probably still a bit lighter than the G38 but the overall weight of my plane will...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

SBrian, I bought the plane from the Tower Scratch and Dent sale. It was marked as wrinkled covering. Truthfully, it wasn't much worse than some of the GP ARFs that I have paid full price for. So I...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

Here are the pics of the completed conversion. I started by cutting a section out of the fuselage bottom right in front of the bulkhead. Then I glued in a piece of 1/4" plywood the exact width of the...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

Well, I finally got to fly my Giant SS again today after moving the landing gear to the fuselage. I also changed the wheels to some sullivan 4" wheels. The combination of the new wheels and the new...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

It is not uncommon for a gas engine (particularly with mag ignition) to vibrate more in certain RPM ranges than others. The vibration can be fairly violent. I am not saying that yours is normal...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

SBrian, beautiful work! I love the look that those gear give the plane. Looks like it was designed that way. Nice job!

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

SBrian, would you mind sending me the same pics? Is yours tested yet? I have been working on my conversion and have epoxied laminated pieces of 1/4" plywood into the fuselage. I started by cutting...

Tazzzz, I am going to use gear from a Giant Big Stick. I will be painting them to match. I will send you a pic.

SBrian, I love that look but how much ground clearance do you have from the...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I broke the landing gear on my SS a few days ago. I had a deastick followed by a very poor landing (completely pilot error) and broke the left main gear. That's right, broke the gear itself not the...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

No weight added to the tail. I had to add weight to the nose. Let me back up a little... I got my SS from the Tower Scratch and Dent sale and the covering was damaged. I stripped mine and re-covered...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I have a Brillelli 46cc gas in my Super Sportster and I can tell you that it has PLENTY of power. I don't typically like to over power my planes but this may change my opinion. This engine allows the...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I would say your biggest prop would be 22". You would still have to be careful with your landings. I don't think the 20" will be a problem. I have a 20x10 on mine but haven't flown it yet.

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I just finished with one of these doing a re-cover and some structural mods. I did add some bracing to the tail just to be safe in the form of tail brace wires, cross bracing in the horizontal stab...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I am working on one right now that I have done some tail reinforcements on. I don't really think there is a problem with the design but that there were some isolated incidents in which the tail has...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

I bought a Giant SS recently from Tower's scratch and dent sale. The covering was serviceable but to make the plane more "mine" I am recovering it. I have stripped the original covering and I am...

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!

The US weighs a little under 4.5 lbs. So my HS 625MG's should be fine then.

If I were to get one of these, what servos are recommended? Would Hitec 625MG's be sufficient for all surfaces? I already have some of these and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a sport...
