RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Micro,
I believe if you go to a crafts store you can find styrofoam cylinders of various sizes. If you cut one of those in half and then hollow out the inside to whatever diameter you need it...

I think this might be what you are talking about Ferndale. It's $90, kinda expensive for a 2 channel plane...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

MegaByte,
I'm gonna give it a go, but it is going to be a while before I get to do it. I only have 1 bipe and 2 jets and one of those jets belongs to my dog. (she loves to chase the jet around...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Sweet! I found a couple motors that might work:

http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=V252263&pid=W658281

This first one is a 7mm with 3.3 ohms of resistance, it has a chance of burning out...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I believe there will be more stress on the motor. It's not exactly the same as if the motor was on an rc car, but it's still trying to push something that's heavier and has more drag then what it is...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Klouche,
Another thing you might want to try is make the wing with a shorter chord. I don't know how you have your wing constructed, but if you can make a 30" wingspan with a 2" or even 3" chord...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ferndale,
I came really close to getting a loop yesterday with my stock AA. Here's how I did it. I set the trim adjust all the way left because my AA has a tendency to turn left if the trim was...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ok, I'm back! Here's my review of the Micro Ultrix Biplane:

The plane is rock steady and it was balanced perfectly right out of the box! Flew about the same speed as the AA, but none of the...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I have a question a little off topic, has anyone flown the Mirco Ultrix Biplane? I saw it at towerhobbies for $20 plus $8.99 shipping and I couldn't resist. It's slightly bigger then the AA with a...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ferndale,
How are your soldering skills? Heat definately can do some damage to electronics if too much of it is applied. Also, since the wiring is such a small gauge that I would assume it's...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Success!!! I can't believe it!!! I just took my AA jet outside with its new motor and let it go for a couple flights, and she responded beautifully!!! So anyone who has a burnt out motor, you can...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ok, well I have now completed the motor transfer. I haven't tried to run the motor yet, but just to let you know I didn't solder anything. I exposed a decent length of each conductor offset so they...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Countryboy,
If it flew great without the extensions to the wing, why not just take them off? If you must have them, put one finger on the tip of the nose and one on the back of the tail and see...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Has anyone tried swapping out a burnt motor for a good one? I have an old AA jet that was lost to a crazy yorkshire terrier that I was able to salvage the electronics off of, and now my second AA...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ok, just got back inside and well I guess the glue wasn't dry cause the wings fell off on the first flight... So I made the best of it and just flew around monowing for a while and I don't know...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Thanks Ferndale! I actually was fooling around a little and I took the right bottom wing and moved it over to the left and vise versa and now I have rear swept upper wings and forward swept bottom...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Ah, I found it. Looks kinda cool but I definately don't want it to become a kite, there are many trees in my neck of the woods and I'm flying under them 90% of the time!

The wind actually...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Has anyone tried attaching the lower wings to the opposite top wing? So that it gives it a slight forward sweep and a downward dihedral?

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

Thanks! For some reason I imagined it was a single wing that just passed thru the body of the plane, sort of like those old sytrofoam gliders. I thought I had broken it!!! Few!!! :D

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I might have to put the SL on my christmas list then!!!

On a side note, I just flew my AA in my living room/dining room/kitchen and from that flight I think it flies decent enough. I want to do...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

I just picked up an Aero Ace and an Aero Ace Jet at Toys R Us. They even had the Storm Launcher! Didn't go for that though... Anyone try the Storm Launcher yet? Is it any good???

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

One thing I learned about the props, they are different for each side!!! You can't take one off the right motor and put it on the left one, it'll be on backwards and the plane will just spiral in...

RE: Air Hogs Aero Ace!

They come in 3 different channels, A, B, and C. I have (had) 2 of the B's. The tx is 2 channel similar to the bipe if that's what you were asking. They fly a little faster and handle wind better...
