An 8 pitch narrow doesn't offer much braking action whereas a 6 pitch wide does.

If needing help with slowing the plane and reducing the floating on landing... might try changing from the 8n to a 6w to obtain more braking action.

The Seagull Spacewalker wheel pants are very poor and cracked easily... I'd not blame that on the engine.
