RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

wow! 52 bucks?!? Might as well go Lipo at that price...
Interesting to know that Orion's are Grepow. Grepow are some of the best nimh's according to several top European FE boaters.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I agree w/ detox...x642 or gr42x55 will get you on plane quicker and still keep the system reliable. sharpen/balance/remove tongues if you can...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

minimum 20c
minimum 4000mah

I have both FlightPower and Elite.
IMO FlightPower are the best, but Elite's are less expensive and a negligible performance difference in the end.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

there are pics in the earlier parts of this thread, as well as Grimracer's instructions.
350-400 grit will work...last 13 inches will work...I scuff mine all the way lengthwise with 220 grit...it's...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I think the post that decided it for me was one (maybe early in this thread - it was easily over a year ago..) that pomplebed wrote awhile ago.
He and his son have the same boat...identical setup,...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

sorry - didn't see that until now.

cheapbatterypacks.com - go to lithium products>lipoly battery packs>Elite
80 bucks a pack, but worth it...i think that is a really good deal on a 30c 4500mah...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

IME the boat squats more with the weight of Nimhs and thusly i prefer a CG a little further back with Nimh to ride a tad more loose...the extra few oz. allow for it. Not everyone likes the SV this...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

That looks too far forward for Nimhs. The 8 inch balance point is for Lipos. The packs can be back a bit more with Nimhs.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

that is usually an indicator that the CG is a touch too far forward. Too nose-heavy, so when it is in the air (from jumping a wake or wave) the nose wants to go down first and stuffs the boat into...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

...just save your money for Lipos and use up the Nimh's you've got...don't spend any more on Nimh packs.
You really don't need 8000mah, the runtime is really plenty with 4500-5000 mah. Besides,...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

IME this is not going to be optimal for this boat. It's going to be a wonky-handling boat with this setup.
A single 4S pack in the nose will be difficult to compensate for even if you use weight in...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I don't actually measure that, most probably do not...it is an approximation.
-1 deg. is barely angled at all. If you run a straightedge along the bottom of the hull off the back of the transom,...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I agree with that.
Chunt, I'd think you'd likely have warranty issues because the boat has been modified...specifically the ESC being the Hydra. The Ammo is the way to go anyway. Check/lube your...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Yup, if you're using Lipos, that's what I'd get (x437/3). I like the 440/3 alot too, but it gets too much boat out of the water with Lipos IME...with 12-14 Nimh's, it'd likely be my prop of choice....

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Sorry, I forgot that was your boat. My bad...that'll handle 6S.

I use a octura 437/3 on my SV with CC125 and Ammo2300kv.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

It is not always the case that they want the whole boat...depends who you talk to and what the distributor's policy is.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

sounds to me like the motor was defective or there was something wrong with the driveline. had you run the boat previously? the motor really should've been the last thing to go. Sounds like it is a...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Some play is normal. alot of play is not good. Yours sounds normal to me. get a thrust bearing if your worried about it.
1/4 inch is alot of play IMO.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I use helmspar polyurethane on the wood...works great. any 7 min+ epoxy would work too. With Polyurethane no thinning:D.
I poly'ed the transom and also use silicone on the hardware screws.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

definitely do not try 3s on one side + 2s on the other.
Try to be patient and wait until you get the boat & try it stock before you go mod-crazy, then work your way up to faster speeds & you'll...

Who told you that?
They are metal. The factory ones are black and anodized or painted, but definitely metal.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Those should work just fine...just put them pretty far forward to readjust your CoG. I like 'em where the front-most part of the batteries are in line with the front-most part of the motor. That...
