RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I use the Forerunner 201 also. Very nice and light too. Compare weight, velocity accuracy, and whatever other features you like.
Whatever you decide on, like NoStick mentioned, keeping the CG is...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Ray,
Do you have any numbers for the 537/3 prop? That's thinking outside the "prop".

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

BJM,
Yeh, they're very short. The vertical ant is there, just can't see it due to the camera angle. This shot shows it.
I may have been one of the first to put a Spectrum in the SV,...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I changed the tubing to match the hull. It's slightly larger that the ID tubing it came with. Got it from Tower.

There isn't any noticeable added resistance having the tubing attached to the...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

D,
Yes, they are a bit expensive. Maybe look at some of the FMs. They're cheaper $$ but work much much better than the stock AM.

BJM,
The DX rcvr is taped vertically inside the radio box....

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Thanks deusnyc.
Never looked for the crystals. I put a Spektrum DX2 in as soon as I got the boat (did a few runs w/ stock radio and didn't like it.....it scared me). The Spektrum's, along with...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Speederson,
What's up? You know exactly where I'm going on this!

Freeing up just a tad (go 1/32" positive on trims) might help, unless you're already close to a blowover.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

mpetrich,
What prop are you using?
Is the deck parallel to the water at WOT, or is only the last 1/3 of the haul in the water at WOT?

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

deusnyc,
Trim tab position will vary greatly due to water condition, prop, type trim tabs beingused, and CG. Mine are at +3.0 Port, +2.5 Strbrd vice neutral that many others use.

Watch how...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Too much prop will also cause major heat in the batts too. If you approach 145F, try propping down.

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Welcome Rench,
Should I adjust the trim tabs or add positive strut to bring the front end up some? My temp are on the high side

Adjusting the trim tabs positive will bring the bow (nose) up. ...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

AT full throttle, does the deck run parallel w/ the water? If so, try raising the trim tabs by 1/32" intervals to get the nose up a bit more; she may be running too wet. Is the 42x55 one of the...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Welcome Patio,
If your motor temps are 110-125 w/ stock cooling, I recommend leaving it alone, IMO. Temps higher than this are usually indicative of a bad setup (running too wet).

Can't...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Edit: it's a 1.4 multiplier.
The 1343/3 alum came from MHZUSA. 43 mm; Pitch 60.2 mm. So if my math is right that's 2.37". Which is why I'm probably a bit limited on it, however, it handles well...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Ryan,
That all makes sense. I'm just using the performance characteristics of the 40mm/3 stock, which cavitates like crazy, the x440/3, a little cav, and the 1343/3, even less cav (but still a...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Thanks for the link.
Yes, I'm refering to the blades creating the disturbance. But I would think that on a 3-bladed prop on the SV, blade 1 rotates, blade 2 has more agitation to try and bite,...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Ryan,
I gotta pick your brain. Since a 2-bladed prop has less blade in the water and more undisturbed water to bite, wouldn't a 2 bladed prop accelerate faster than an equivelant sized 3-bladed...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

The stock prop is a 40mm. So you would be propping down if using a 39mm. There will be a diff b/w 2 and 3 blade though, more cav with 3 blade, but more top end speed. 33mm I think is too low. ...

Not too impressed with the Ammo figures. How much chop? Temps are unusually high. You should have gotten at least low 36 using the x642 on light chop...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Ryan,
Maybe a misunderstanding. I though you were referring to the hull and having the transom mount in the water.
