Nick!

I felt bad that I didn't tell you yesterday when you asked about the retracts that you should check this forum (and the one on RC Groups), but I guess you do. I had a thought--I don't...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Ron,

I understand from this that the ESCs were in the nacelles. Is that correct? I assume that the two blocks on top of the wing center with the cooling fans are the BECs? You also mention...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Yes, there are two schools of thoughts as far as extending the ESC wires. One thing for sureunless I put the batteries in the nacelles (which I will not...)I need to extend wires. Now MY EE...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I'm not sure that it will do NOTHING at all... But as you say, probably very little. Will look very cool on starting though... Let's hope I don't have a motor-out situation...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Oh, and one more thing: I am going to use 18x12x2 props, but counter rotating. One prop will turn clockwise, and the other counter-clockwise. I bought Zinger props for this. The logic behind this...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Guys, I think the "parallel" build thread referred to is the RC Groups one (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1421377), although I might be wrong. That thread also had a renewed...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I'm making it electric, but have been working on it on-and-off for a while now, so it will likely still be a while before I'm done.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I have those spark resistors on anything I fly beyond 6S. Do you know that Castle Creations tell you that "the spark is your friend?" (see last question in...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Eagle

E flite makes good motors. As far as batteries, I'm planning on using two 6S 8000mah 30C flightmax batteries in series, and connect to both motors in parallel. This way, you never have...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Or on the forums. The recommendation for the bigfoots are from someone who have put them on our tcat. That's why I bought it. I am pretty happy with the rimfire 160 I have in the p40, although...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

You know, I buy a lot from HK. I use the Turnigy brand name a lot. Not everything they have is of equal quality. I bought a $230 jet from them, and was disappointed at the quality. Then I bought...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

So I considered many motors (see below from what I posted on a parallel thread on RC Groups). I didn't even know about the Tacon/Bigfoot brand. In reply to my post, someone who is using the bigfoot...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Two comments:

1. Try and consider an alternative to the power 160 motors. Such as the tacon Bigfoot 160. They were introduced to me by someone else who is flying this tcat on them.

2....

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

I looked at that link. Some nice RAF workmanship there! I did notice the following, though (on the Mosquito):
"On 16 x 10 three blade props (right and left rotation). turning 6k9 rpm, 11 kg...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

You know something? I completely forgot about the nuts... I may have to go with both props turning the same direction. Props would be cheaper, too... Thanks for that!!!

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

By the way, as far as retracts, I'm going to start with FIXED landing gear for the first few flights. The gear will be screwed and not glued to the plane, so I can "upgrade" to the retractable one...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Guys,

My setup is two Tacon Bigfoot 160. They are very similar to the e-flite Power 160. Eagle, as far as the wing loadingit has nothing to do with the power, but everything to do with the...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Eagle,

Even though you didn't ask me ( ;-) ), I would offer my answer. I'm building the same airplane, and have faced this issue many times before. All of my planes are electric (24 of...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Interesting... I didn't know there were two options. I thought the original, all-composite, was the only one glossy... I guess I will just figure out some kind of glossy paint for it...

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat

Bob,

Did you think about possibly putting a pusher prop on one side, and have the motors counter rotate to one another? It will eliminate any p-factor you might have. That's what I'm doing...
