Ideally you should shape the leading edge of the ruder to this rounded shape so when it swings back and forth there wont be any gap between the vertical fin and the rudder.

These are a few pictures of my 1/5 scale sig cub tail wheel setup. It looks like I had to carve out the balsa slightly where the horn goes on. I then epoxied it and stuck a small 2-56 or 4-40 bolt...
