If the 9C offers full channel mixing feature on the buddy signal then it will work with nearly any other modern Futaba Tx.

Before you hack the joystick to pieces you need to open it up and...

One hack method: Find a retired Futaba Tx. Disconnect the existing pot wiring. In their place, wire the pots from your joystick. As long as the joystick's pots are 2K to 25K ohms, they should work....
