RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,

Who is going to do the testing and "certification"?
If I do it is it valid and a viable test?
If so is that not what I am doing by documenting time...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,
No our group does not propose to be treated just like a model aircraft used for recreation.
If you look at some of the draft proposals on the RCAPA site we have suggested some very...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,
While I understand your direction and indeals behind these statements I really think that the types of action you are talking about are not applicable to EVERY commercial operator.

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe,
I will make sure that anybody at RCAPA who is interested gets in touch with RTCA.

I just read in a set of recent ASTM minutes that the FAA is asking both groups to work together on...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

I didn't take it this way at all.
I was pretty sure you had the type of background you descirbed here. Funny fellow aviators can spot each other a good % of the time. :D
Like I said I think if we...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe,
The accident was nothing more than that an accident.
I wasn't there and cannot tell you more than what I have read. Apparently you read about it also.
I read some first hand accounts...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe,
We are going to have to agree to disagree on some of the very fine points you mention.
Believe it or not we are both in the same ballpark and have similar ideals just two different sides...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,
Do you consider your model aircraft "toys"?

I don't at all and honestly I would love for someone to come up with a definition of "toy" as it relates to this.

Most all of these...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe/Jim,

I agree with you regarding the need for regulation.
What I am trying to say is that there needs to be a different set of regulations that involve the under 55lb class than the...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Jim,
All valid points and all points we have been addressing through our group at the RCAPA and ASTM.

There is a line that has to be drawn between what 90% of the people who visit this forum...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Well that is great and I agree with you. When a system of that nature comes on the market at a price my small business can afford I will certainly add one. Currently there are only a few available...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe is dead on here.
The KSN is available to myself and I have not paid a dime to the RTCA.
I have had some difficulty getting into it and actually looking through there, but that is a time...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Joe,
Great points about the standards acceptance.
The F38 committee is in the same situation with lots of "paper" participants and only a small % of "hard core".

I had not seen anything...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Sounds like you are in the know on this issue for sure. :D

I am a "wallflower" member of SC-203. Mostly because I do not have the time to attend the meetings in DC. They do pretty much...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

The FAA has seen several angles on this proposed.
They are open to listen to all and right now I think calmer heads will prevail as the majority of the groups involved would like to see a "less is...
