RE: Official Rustler Thread

The lipo works. The motor is a bit outdated, those things never were that nice. A mod motor would be much better. ESC temps are ok?

There is always the option of extra cooling such as a...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Mine did. I switched over to 32P a long time ago and never looked back. Zero wobble, zero stripped spurs, zero problems. ;)

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Don't forget that the poplar 1/10 scale brushless systems use 540 size motors , they run 3s all the time.

I use this citrus degreaser - http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/citrus-cleaner.htm

Take some bearings, give them a squirt with that and re-lube them with Tri-flow, WD40, bearing lube, etc. ...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

don't do it. IMO, it would be 100x better for you to either buy a E-firestorm Flux, or buy a Rustler VXL. this is coming from someone who had a xl-5 and now upgraded to a VXL or even better. take...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Yeah. I bought a XL-5 Rustler and upgraded it to a VXL. I ended up spending so much money, all the hex hardware, thicker links, bearings, etc. Same concept. Now I'm really kicking myself for it. ...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

I might be interested in some of it, but not all. You should just list it on RCU and see if you get any takers.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

you might be able to find one for rock crawling that would work. easiest way would just be to get a 90T spur and go from there.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

castle doesn't know why it's heating up.... LOL, all their motors do that. IMO i would just run your 4600 until it dies, and that should be a pretty long time. i hear their very tough motors. or,...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

16 is a pretty small pinion, it's the spur that's way too low. try a 86, if that's not enough, try a 90. If THAT's not enough, you might have to buy a fan.

remember:

higher spur means...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

16/72 is way overgeared!!! Go back to a 86, or 90T spur gear.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

if it's in a rustler i use 26/86 with 2s, and maybe 23/86 with 3s.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Hey guys got a new Rustler video up. I haven't broken my car in months, and this weekend i'm going to beat the living hell out of it. [>:]

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Let me stop you there. Sell your XL-5 and buy a VXL or a E-firestorm Flux. It will save you money. I started with a VXL, had it for a long time and I love it. It wasn't cheap though, and...

RE: Official Rustler Thread

100% punch control shouldn't even let you wheelie. Unless your talking about no punch control. Low timing can make your ESC run hot, so watch out for that. Just experiment.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Gear down and tune the Mamba in for punch control etc. It would also help if you just used 2s, 3s is overkill on a track.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

That works, too. Problem is that not everyone has that laying around. I do, but I only have the one for metal to metal contact. Maybe I'm the only one with lots of tire glue laying around.

RE: Official Rustler Thread

Too punchy? IMO, it has a smoother takeoff. The sidewinder can be faster, but that wasn't the point. Point is that the VXL stuff is of better quality. You guys make way to much of this tuning...
