I think it will be fast enough. In my experience I would start with the 17x10 and if it was just to fast drop the pitch. I replaced a 17x8 with a 17x6 on a different engine/plane and the 6 just did...

Very nice. I use a APC 17x10 on my OS 160 in my Platt 80" 18.5 pound Zero. Plenty fast enough. I would image your Tony will have plenty of getup and go.
