you mean to avoid the small amount of time that the engine and ESC could be running without cooling? I guess it couldn't hurt but it seems like little gain for the trouble.

I have 4 packs of 2S2P (four cells each) connected to the ESC with parallel adapters, which gives a 4s4p total (4400mah, 13.2V) I'll take a picture of it tonight.

Yes, my boat is running wet. I want to keep it sharp side down for the time being.

these cells should only have to put out a 10 C rating to supply the 45amp rating for the ESC. 45000mah draw...

The A123's are giving enough amps, they just don't have enough volts behind it. They weren't even warm when I took them out. I was also getting 12 min run times with the A123's opposed to 8mins...

I added the traxxas water pickup and the port turn fin.

I got it on the water yesterday:

4s4p A123 lipo (13.2V) 24.3mph

DTX 4200 flat packs (14.4V) 29.0 mph

If you read this thread you'll find the answer you're looking for, but the best way to get this boat flying isn't by replacing the motor, good batteries is the first key for speed.

Yeah, I have read through the props and batteries threads. The only reason I got the GR props over the reccomended ones is I was already placing tower orders. I'll get a 440-3...

Just got my SV27 off scratch and dent (busted prop). Thanks for all the info in this thread - it's saved me alot of headaches and gave me some ideas
So far the mods are:

Removed radio box...
