RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

I have the MM5700 and I use the 83T Spur and a legacy 19T pinion (found it on Ebay I think. Or etamiya.com. Don't remember).
Heat wise I could probably go 22-23T pinion, but it is fast enough for...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Yes. A slipper is a must with that kind of BL power. Regardless if you jump or not :D

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Tried that with mine too. Was a bit more prone to flip over though.

What is your gearing? Any overheating problems with the ESC or MM7700?

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

I think it is a good idea to tighten as the manual says, and then run a few packs before you tighten again toi let the parts wear a bit.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Mostly the rear diff overheats due to it being too loose. If it's too loose a BL setup naturally breaks it faster due to the extra torque and power.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Too loose. You should also tighten the diff regularly. Specially on Lipo and BL power ;)

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Hm. Weakens the chassis a bit tho. Think I'll try a slimmer batt.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Post some pics of the chassis with the maxamps 6000 3s fitted, and what you had to dremel away :)

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

The SSG graphite chassis is a bit more flexible than the regular graphite I think (I don't know though). Maybe someone who has it can comment.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Depends on how you drive. The one-way makes for sharper turning when off throttle. Handles the same on throttle.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

2S Lipo = same or a little better duration (2S 5000mha = better duration than NiMh 4200 naturally). Traction = same or better if you mean punch from the battery. Good Lipo delivers more amps than...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

I use this one:

Its very stiff. Be sure your servo can handle it (metal gears). There are softer variants. Just search for...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Replace the servo saver with a stiffer one. Like the Kimborough or Tamiya hard servo saver.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

I see. The Tobee with the extra 4mm on both sides will solve it. There are spacers included in the Tobee kit to extend the wheel base, but you can just throw them away and you'll have 4mm extra...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

If I understand you right you need more offset i.e. longer foil shafts.
Tobee have CVDs with 4 or 8mm extra foil shaft length to offset the wheels further away from the car.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

I drive mine with 19T/85T and it is plenty fast for bashing. I even use 120mm tires on it and then it is very fast.
If you use the MM5700 I suggest setting low settings to lower the strain on the...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

26/85 is a shade high with the MM5700. You can try, but you may have to take breaks to cool it down. Max temp is 200F at the motor starts to de-magnetize, but you should stay below 185F to be sure....

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

23/85 is a good choice. You could even use a smaller pinion (check Ebay for mod 05 pinions). Smallest pinion you'll be able to fit is 19T.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

Anyone on this thread tried different CVDs for the DF03?

I have bent a couple of 3Racing CVD and I am wondering if any of the other brands are harder. Like GPM (steel), Topcad (steel) Tobee and...

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread

1. Go Tamiya alu hop up. They are very good. Cheaper option is thicker oil.

2. There should be some white rubber like spacers included in the kit to take away the play. Add an extra o-ring if...
