some of my friends do
some don't
I never had a failure just twisting the wire and running a flame to melt the wires together

I have used the plastic coated fishing leader line for years on my zirolli sized planes
all you have to do is twist the wire and heat Never had a failure
comes in all strength I usually use 60...

I have painted over almost all types of plastic covering from monocote, econocote, solartex , others I can t remember and whateve that stuff is that comes on ESM models
I usually use a combination...

I like to burn my flush rivets also
in some places I use real screws
panel lines are chart pack tape then airbrush "dirt" in places
the air scoops are plastic spoons
