RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I used the recommended setting, but not sure what it was. I did mount the battery as far back in the fuslage as I could which ended up a perfect balance without any need for additional weight. ...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

DGUY, you are right regarding the price hike. I was fortunate to get the Pawnee at it's original price. They did the same thing with the Pulse XT 60. I just picked one of those up at the $249.99...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Randy, on the recommendation of several others, in these threads, I mounted the receiver battery in the back of the plane. Very easy to do, just creade a door hatch on the bottom of the plane near...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I also was considering a Magnum 91FS however these are a couple of things to consider. The included motor mount is not wide enough for the .91. Since the Firewall has several blind nuts in it...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

EF, I was also going to use a Magnum 91, but the motor mount the Pawnee comes with is not quite wide enough. And I could not find a 91 motor mount that would fit the pre-drilled holes in the...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Thanks Doug. I have been using a APC 13X8 but thinking about going to a 14X6. I only have 4 flights on it and am still getting use to a different kind of flying. For the past several years I have...

Magicswanson - I too mounted the battery almost exactly as you did and it seems to be working out just fine. By the way what size prop are you using on the Saito .82?

I also have a Saito .82 and it fits perfect with the engine mount supplied. Not overpowed by any means but very scale.

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I agree 100%. You would have to think the 1st run is going to be the most expensive due to all the startup and tooling processes. Once that is in place the price per plane would come down. I sure...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Maybe bad news. I was at the LHS over the weekend and the owner told me that they have been told by Hangar 9 that they are no longer making the 40 Size Piper Pawnee. One intial run and that's it. ...

OldScaleGuy - I completely agree with you. Mine is also ready for a calm day. This is my 1st Hanger 9 ARF, actually I mostly build from kits but could not help myself when I saw this one in a...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

TJR1, I was in the same boat but did not want to wait. I went to every web site I could find and they were all June, which tells me it will probably be later than sooner. With that said I thought...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Skotby - there are several recommendations in this thread. I guess alot depends on the size/weight of your engine. Almost all that I have read are putting the battery back towards the tail. I have...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Hi dan4466. I too reinforced the landing gear, after reading some of the treads and examining the gear itself it looked like a bumpy landing could break one of the tack welds loose. I may have done...

pkevinb - I too have installed a Saito 82. Just curious as to what prop you are using. Currently I put a Master Airscrew 13/8 on it, but am just breaking it in on the bench.

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I did the same as ChuckW. The only problem I encountered is you have to cut the cowling out fairly large otherwise you will not be able to attach the muffler after the cowling is attached. The...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I am also putting a Saito 82 in for power. I picked up a GP 12 oz tank. I think this will give way more time than needed, especially since we will probably be flying at 1/2 throttle most of the...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

Hi JaybirdII - since you have flown this plane just out of couriosity did you use aileron only or did it also need rudder in the turns? I have not had any planes that reuqired aileron and rudder and...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

By the way if anyone is interested I found the perfect On/Off charging switch combo. After looking the plane over I was not sure how I would mount the on/off switch for the receiver. I just happen...
