RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I would guess that there's a bad solder joint between the ESC and the motor (one of the three phases has a bad connection), or a problem with the ESC.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

That can't be all the fault of the plane.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I used 3M Blenderm medical tape (also sold as hinge tape at hobby shops for about 3x the price!) to fix my hinge. Feels very secure.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I'm not in a position where I can agree or disagree with that statement, as I wasn't around when you took yours out of the box and flew it... but I believe you, and I do agree that the Trojan flies...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I used hinge tape, too (3M Blenderm medical tape, really - a lot cheaper from amazon than at a hobby store!)

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Also, what are your throws set at? How much above and below the wings are the ailerons with full stick input? How much up and down does the elevator go above it's neutral position with full stick...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I know that Spektrum had some issues with the pots in some of their TX's, but it would be unlikely for a the fault to affect the rudder first and then follow the servo when you swapped it to the...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

<link rel="stylesheet" href="/forum/js/punymce//css/content.css" />If it followed the servo from the rudder to the elevator, there isalmost no question that it is the servo.

If you're saying that...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

LOL. Very descriptive! I may use that one some time in the future, if you don't mind.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

The clear plastic bubble comes off of the canopy pretty easily - I did it once without even touching the plane - the ground did the work on a "hard landing". Probably just slip an exacto knife...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I think that the factory uses some kind of silicone that dries slippery... I have noted both of the fuselage servos of my trojan coming loose, so I'm not really impressed with what they use. I...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

My guess is that you have a bad servo (or two).

Try plugging the suspect servo into a different port (like where the elevator servo is now) and seeing if it still spins or if it is controllable....

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Cool. What kind of floats are they? Do you have a link to where you bought them?

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

You're probably aware of this, but here's my "2 cents worth" (lol)...

Unless you're intentionally increasing weight (like to make the plane penetrate wind better and/or you prefer a faster...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

The only reason that he should have had to use rudder for a crash landing was if the servo stuck in the full travel position... If it stuck anywhere else, he still should have had some roll control...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

My guess is some kind of glitch in your BEC that subjected them to over-voltage. But that should have fried your RX, too... Aren't two of them digital and two analog? If so, that eliminates a...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I was out the other weekend after repairing the crash that I had suspected was due to my datalogger shifting my CG too far forward. I flew a short circuit (without the datalogger) - maybe airborne...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

Let me know if you find a cheaper one that works with it. I think that JR and Spektrum radios are compatible with eachother, but most 2.4 GHz brands are incompatible with eachother (Futaba has...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

The only down side of the DSM2 transmitters is the cost of extra RX's. They're about $50-$70 each for just the RX's, which adds a lot of cost to a scratchbuilt!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I went PnP and got a DX6i TX. The charger that comes with the Trojan isn't that good, and several have complained of interference with the stock TX/RX (but others have not had issues).

I...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

I had a look at mine this evening (very convenient.... it's on the kitchen table awaiting repairs!) and it looks like there's a big enough gap where the control rods go aft from the servos to slip a...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

What are you using to power the RX? Instead of moving the motor back, could you move the CG back by putting whatever battery/BEC you're using for electrical power back in that big cavity the far aft...

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan

The expense of RC controlled relays (I think I remember seeing one for around $20 once, but the ones below are more) kind of makes it impractical. If you're just looking for longer flight times, you...
