RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Each vehicle is designed for a specific purpose, doesn't mean that you have to use it for that purpose. A perfect example is how tamiya used the TB-03 buggy chassis as the basis for their DF-03Ra...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

If you got the Tamiya pitch then you should be fine.

There are both the metric 48p and US 48p. Slightly different but enough to make a difference.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

It doesn't matter how many teeth there are as long as it's a metric 48p pinion.

As for radio, I'd suggest either the Spektrum DX3.0 or Futaba 3PM. Don't get either the DX2 as they had some...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

The 3500kv vxl motor does tend to run a bit cooler than the CC motors. You can probably gear the vxl up to 23 with no problems.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

23/91 I think would be pretty high but you can always try it and monitor temps. I tried a 21 with my 5700 and it thermaled in 15 minutes.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

The Venom brushless systems are just rebadged speed passion brushless systems. Speed passion does make good products though.

What lipo are you running? mah and C rating?

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

If you keep the gear ratio the same then I don't believe it's going to change your temps. I would have to say that even with lipo their buggies are just lighter than yours. Also keep in mind that...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Keep in mind that the B44 is a race bred machine, it's going to be much lighter than your Baldre and have better balance. All things being equal the B44 should be faster. To be completely fair and...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Eric... I really suggest you switch out those stock molex power connectors for either deans or traxxas. You'll get much better performance.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

ok, while i'm not doubting you, how does the joint prevent the plastic gear from melting? Less flex so the balls can't get out of the sockets?

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Do you have a part number on the 3racing diff? All I can find is the shaft, not sure how that helps with the plastic gear melting.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I have the 501x and due to the required saddle pack and open belts it's really just suited for the race track. If you're out bashing the durga then it would be much less maintenance because of the...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Avoid the 5.5T, that is too much motor unless you only run on pavement. Based on the novak chart a 5.5T is 7400kv which is way too high. You really want under 5000kv if you can. The VXL motor is...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I ALWAYS use thread lock on screws to metal parts. Especially for motors where the vibration starts. Why take the chance? takes an extra couple of seconds and thread lock is cheap.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I used a 30 minute epoxy, I wouldn't use ca as I don't think it would hold well enough. threadlock would definitely NOT work.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

slipper clutch is not needed with the stock motor. It's only if you have a very powerful motor or are jumping a lot that you need a slipper. The stiffness of the shocks depend on what you're doing,...

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

You could not fit a slash body on the DB-01. I have both, and the slash body is designed for bigger tires and 2" of clearance.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

I think maybe that's when the double slipper might come into play, it allows the 18t gears to slip independantly from each other as opposed to the single slipper on the spur gear.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

the diffs aren't meant to stop your tires from spinning, that's a factor of your power and tires. The stock tires are not great to start with and they aren't meant for on road.

RE: Official DB-01 Durga Thread

Ya, I actually just got done out on the road with my db-01, damn it's fast, almost uncontrollable fast with the gearing I have. You can also find lipo saddle packs but they are a pain, a lot of guys...
