i had mine taken apart and i forgot to take a picture :( your right......there is not much to these things. the motor wires are soldered directly onto the receiver along with the antena, battery...

what most likely happened is the gear reduction came loose on the motor. all you have to do is push the front back onto the gear. i noticed it can happen pretty easy when i took mine...
