Twist and push in to get the boot over the hex portion of the spark plug. The metal split sleeve has a c-ring around it that has to spread open so the boot can slide on. It isn't easy, worse yet...

You might want to look at ACRC field if you haven't seen it. It's a better location for bigger planes, IMHO. The asphalt runway is about 250 feet long.
