On mine main gear I used 1/32 ply on the inside...

On mine main gear I used 1/32 ply on the inside rail. This give it enough to change he angle of the wheel footprint and still not cause a problem with gear in the up position.

I changed my socket heads out and put Phillips...

I changed my socket heads out and put Phillips screws in. It's a lot easier to remove the cowl if I need to.
