I lost mine in Muncie over this past summer and am in the market for a new plane this size. Can anyone post pics of the newer 69" Yaks from Nitroplanes? I believe these are a slightly different...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Finally started my electric conversion. Right now, I'm installing a Scorpion 4035 and 10S lipo. I was SHOCKED to see that with an electric motor (Hacker A50) and 8S lipo and ESC, the plane was tail...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Graphtechrc.com has a carbon set of gear for the 72" QQ yak that will fit this plane nicely. I got a pair for my birthday that I haven't installed yet, but it is beautiful. About $50, has a nice...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

I don't know much about gas engines, but I know people were looking at 26cc or more for the original 69" plane. The new one is bigger and heavier, would think 20cc would be cutting it short on power....

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Sold the 120AX and just got myself a Hacker A50-14L. Going to try 7S first (18x12ish prop) to see how the plane does with lighter setup. Motor is known to handle 8S and 18x10 but will try that next...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

I'm getting so psyched to start flying this thing again, though it's down while I consider electric conversion.

One thing I noticed last time out is TONS of wiggle room in wing saddle. Almost...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

I've got the older 69" Yak - took it out for the first time in probably a year and was getting used to the plane again - flies great, but started having motor issues. Well long story short, thinking...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Has anyone gone electric with this bird? Wondering if 10S is too much weight. I have the 'original' 69" Nitro plane, not the newer version.

RE: NitroPlanes 69

I just noticed they are showing a much different plane than the QQ knockoff on Nitroplanes website. Similar covering, but cowl and canopy are different, gear is different, and plane looks like a more...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

2 ways to fix the elevator throw - either drill a new hole in the elevator horn closer to the surface, or replace the horn with a much smaller on (3/4 or 1"). I had a similar problem with mine. I...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

For anyone else interested, it's definitely worth giving them a call. I couldn't tell from the 72" Yak gear picture whether or not the gear has the lean to it - I would assume it does. Anyway they...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Yeah the gear is supposed to be fiberglass. I'm sure your custom gear will work out great, but if not, Graphtechrc.com has replacement CF gear for the 72" Yak for $40-50. I might order a set next...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Is the gear that came with your plane fiberglass? Sounds like they packaged the wrong set with your plane, and sounds like typical nitroplanes service. I ordered a replacement set of gear for the...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

No one has yet identified if the 72" plane is also a stolen design from QQ; the 69" definitely is. Someone on QQ's design team, in another thread, commented that QQ never applied for copyright, or...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Just got a scale: 8lb 18oz RTF minus fuel. Includes small fuse repair and wingtip/tail weight for balancing. OS 120AX, stock muffler, carbon wing tube, no wheel pants.

Also found my 'small fuse...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

Mauk: There are rubber grommets provided for mounting the cowl. If you drill holes in the cowl and insert the grommets, the rubber fills the gap you are talking about. You did a very nice job cutting...

RE: NitroPlanes 69

For the thrust line: I say fly the plane as-is, and see what happens. I think my plane might have a quirk in it somewhere. I had issues with the balance point and both right thrust and down thrust.

RE: NitroPlanes 69

The 72" is a different plane.

Two stroke works fine in the plane, just requires you to cover a little more distance with the throttle stick.

RE: NitroPlanes 69

This plane (69") is absolutely phenomenal, and it certainly is giving me lots of room to grow.

Very happy.

RE: NitroPlanes 69

I don't think it's too big. First off, a new plane would be the 72" plane so you wouldn't be upsetting the CG by nearly as much. Second, use a NIMH receiver battery and move it back to offset the...

Does anyone have ideas for replacement landing gear? Mine is shot.

Jon, very nice job on the assembly. For the hardware, whatever works!

Koch, I like the pinstripes. Will you do the stab...
