RE: looking for a ME 163

Well, I called Joe Saitta the other night and exchanged emails since. Not being one to reinvent the wheel, I'm going to order his turbine conversion kit. $85.00, shipped. He calls for a 31" tailpipe...

RE: looking for a ME 163

I agree with you... sort of. Flaps add lift as well as drag. Therefore, with flaps, one can land slower. And the additional drag offsets the residual thrust. Scale or not, I want the option of a...

RE: looking for a ME 163

With a windmilling prop up front, you don't need flaps. With the residual thrust of a turbine at idle, it will float right by you on landing without a means of creating additional drag, such as flaps.

Look again at the length of the cockpit opening and the diameter of the firewall...

RE: looking for a ME 163

Your welcome. Not sure sure if I want to do a build thread or not. I do plan to document the conversion with photos, though. I seriously doubt there's very many people interested in an expensive...

RE: looking for a ME 163

Hey glazier808: On my Flyboy Komet, I put the rx batt as far aft in the fuse as it could go.(under the rudder) Balanced right on the wing screws, it flew great on an OS 55AX. An electric set-up will...

RE: looking for a ME 163

I didn't even know Joe Saita HAD a turbine conversion for the 82" Komet until I read it here. Since I've already worked out how I'm going to do it, I'll skip the kit. As far as the pipe is concerned,...

RE: looking for a ME 163

All of the above plus suck-in doors under the wing roots. This is my biggest concern: Adequate air for the turbine and for cooling the pipe. This is the paint scheme I'll probably do. This airplane...

RE: looking for a ME 163

Finally! Here's the bare bones: 82" Saita Komet, JetCentral SuperBee, Tam's pipe.

RE: looking for a ME 163

Since electric-powered Komets are pretty common, at least by Komet standards, I've been working on putting my SuperBee in my 82" Saita Komet. The opening at the rear of the fuselage needs to be...

RE: looking for a ME 163

Can someone please post a drawing showing the location of the underwing flaps/spoilers? All of the 3-views I've found show only the upper sides of the wings. Thanks.

RE: looking for a ME 163

I got one from Flyboy models a couple of years ago. It actually took second place in a local scale meet, though I think it had more to do with the fact that I flew several times without crashing than...
