Yep, 85 degree flaps which I deploy gradually: 1/2 flap on the downwind leg and full deflection on short finals. No trim needed but she slows down considerably, needs a little nose down...

You can use more flaps to slow down for landing, the scale flaps deflection is 85 degrees (that's right, works as barn door airbrake)

You have cut a lot of cowl, maybe a little baffling will help to direct airflow inside the cylinder fins...

Its a gentle flier, at 23 lbs you should be fine as long as you keep the airspeed up. I don;t know your maiden routine, I usually go high up and do a couple of stall...

The trick was to keep the tail light (gold'n'rod for elevators) and moved everything...

Regarding the cowl screw reinforcements, you need to buy some sheets of G10 (Fliteskin) for your shop, you'll soon wonder how you could live without it :-)
