RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

That's one of the most useful things I've read here at Club Saito. I never knew what to do after the first ten minutes at 4000rpm.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I can say there is very little smoke with my .56, only when increasing the throttle quickly. I run 30% nitro / 18% synthetic oil fuel as most advice says it runs cooler and it sure makes the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thank you sir. The remote glow plug connector works well and is big benefit with the cowling on this plane.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hobbsy, I see that wandering of the rpm near peak, it confused me as I didn't expect to see that. In the .82 it would wander a couple hundred rpm.

After consulting with you guys I think I am...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Les,

Which model plug did you use for the FG-20? I will be using that engine on my next plane.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hobbsy,

Great photo, I see exactly what you are talking about.

When you say absolute peak on the HS needle, you are talking about peak rpm? Then after you have the LS how you like it you...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks w8ye.

So the thing to do is set the HS needle, then lean the LS needle only so far as it takes to get a tolerable idle.

Sure is tricky business setting these Saitos up correctly. ...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Am I correct that you cannot be too lean on the lowspeed setting? Assuming good idle and throttle advance.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

On a hot 93 degree day with about two and a half hours total running time on my Saito .82GK whilst doing very enthusiastic flying of my Aeroworks Extra 260 I burned up the motor!

It quit on me,...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

ram3500-RCU,

Thanks for the excellent post.

I will use your advice at the next opportunity. One thing stood out to me and that is the lack of metal motor mount on this Aeroworks Extra. ...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks, w8ye. If not for you and the other guys on this thread, I would not be able to enjoy the Saitos, I'd have no other option but the two strokes.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I just put blue thread lock on my Saito .82 muffler that keeps coming loose. Did I mess up doing that? It has been so annoying, I was even eyeing my welder over in the corner.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Currently using an 11x8 Master Airscrew wood. I chose this as it is the recommended prop for the .56 along with the scale look. I do feel an 11x7 or an 11x6 could be useful to reduce the torque...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

w8ye gave me this advice as well and he is absolutely correct. My H9 Cub 40 flys like a dream with the Saito 56, very scale with plenty of reserve power. Takeoff at half throttle and cruise at one...

Thanks gentlemen, good advice all around. It should have occurred to me a lack of amperage could be the problem. Next trip out to the field I'll give it a go and...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

That's what I wondered. I didn't know if there was some inherent idle time limitation other than the above.

Thanks

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Gentlemen, a couple of questions.

I think I've about got my new .56 mostly broken in. I am getting about 2500 idle and 9300-9500 top end with an 11x8 prop.

Transition from idle to full...
