RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I moved my tank and went closer to the wing tube. This puts it more on the CG and will not have any effect on CG. Just cut the former for the fuel tank, make a new tray farther back.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I finally did the maiden on my Edge. After messing around with my Saito FG-20 gas motor we went out to the field. Plane looks great, set up with CG at 90mm. Taxied out, checked power one more time,...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

If you read through all of the threads on this plane most guys are up around 90mm for balance point. Some guys can fly it at 100 but I think if you move more weight toward the tail you will be sorry....

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

DO NOT TRY TO BALANCE AT 105-110. Correct balance point is 90mm! You will have a very tail heavy plane otherwise, up to you.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Balance point is 90mm not the 100mm stated in the manual. If you go to 90mm, I believe you could take out that lead in the nose.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

After listening to all of the posts about the CG, I rebalanced mine at 90mm. I also ordered a 3/4" carbon fiber wing tube from TNT. Just waiting for the snow to melt a little more and the winds to...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Has anybody flown this plane at the 100mm CG as indicated in the manual?

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Sounds like your on the right road. Some clubs do have some members that are not always as friendly as they should be. But every club should welcome new members with open arms. Always keep your AMA...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Doesn't matter what size plane it is, you always follow the book for CG. An Edge is not an Extra, like comparing apples and oranges so it doesn't matter what size Seagull calls them. I have the Saito...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Why would you want to set the CG 10mm farther forward than the book calls for? The book says 100mm from the leading edge.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I take it there isn't a local club nearby? I'm in Boston so I am no real help, but read the directions first (even though most are worthless), some are just a bunch of pictures. But probably the most...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

The other thing you should have learned was to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. The manual says the CG is 100mm back from the leading edge, not 110 or 90-100. It is very clear, you were tail heavy and flying out...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

It sounds just like a 4 stroke but gas. You get what you pay for, don't you think the 26cc is a little big for this 60 size plane. I am all for extra power, the Saito is lighter and gives you real...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I had the Aeroworks 540 T 60-90 size, it flew well with an OS 1.08 but that was quite a few years ago and I put it in on a landing, stalled it. I am now putting the Seagul together with the new Saito...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Saito 120 gas showed up, all installed. Fired it up yesterday with a 16x8 APC. Initial factory settings were wrong, had to open up the low end to 8 turns. Motor runs real nice and idles nice and...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

There's more to it than that. Carberator is different, so arm location is questionable, also choke to deal with. I will need 2 switches with 2 batteries, 1 for Rx and 1 for ignition. Balance will be...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Well, now is the waiting game. Horizon says late Dec. for delivery(just checked and now it says Early Jan.). Edge is all ready to install the motor and ignition. I have a regular Saito 125 I could...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

After seeing a friends 46 size Edge I just purchased the 60 size, great covering, nice quality for the money. But then I got the bright idea this will be a perfect plane for the new Saito 120 gas. It...
