RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Do you have a switch that turns the Gyro on and off or do you just leave it on all the time? I read several posts from 2007 when people were really into using Gyro's but the consensus later changed...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Does anyone know of a good fuel proof paint for the two different colors on the B-25? I picked up Model Master Olive Drab (FS34087) and it's way to green. I need to touch up a few spots.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Just curious, but why dle-20s? If you want gas, why not go saito 91 gas or something similar? The plane was designed for an os 70fs and a dle is 1.20...that's a big jump! I think os 70 engines...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I used 14x6 blade props for my first engine run. I taxied around the field for 15 minutes and then spent 45 minutes pulling grass off my plane. I'm switching back to 13x8x3 blade props before my...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Where did you hear that every Y harness has a built-in amplifier? I admit that one of the few things I buy in bulk from Hobby King is servo extenders and Y harnesses. They are relatively cheap at...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Hitech servos are pretty much the only servos I use... and I have never used an amplifier. As long as you're using quality connectors you will be fine... but avoid ever using an amplifier with those...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Norm,

I did not use soldering paste or flux which is probably my problem. The solder I used had flux built into the solder itself, but I usually prefer to use extra flux when making...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Great explanation and fairly accurate when dealing with nickel metal hydride and nickel cadmium. Unfortunately, it does not take the connectors into consideration. A typical JR connector is good...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I purchased the Smart Fly Power Expander Pro for my Hitec Optima 9 receiver. It's probably not needed, but I wanted to have redundancy. If you do a search on this thread, you will see several...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Anyone know if a flex pipe is available for the OS 95v engine? I really don't want to cut the cowl in order to fit the stock muffler and a flex pipe seems like the perfect option.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

It's actually a sea master, not a sea neptune. Following the footsteps of B-Squared, I used an OS 55 AX engine for power.

The shop is a complete mess because of the B 25 build. I am really...

I took a few pictures of the work in progress. I've got the servos connected to the Power Expander Pro. The 4 flaps are controlled through the Smart Fly Equalizer 3D unit and the 2...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

How do the ESM doors close? Do you have a separate actuator or does it use the same type of linkage assembly? I've spent a good 100 hours on this build to date and I have about 80% of the build...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

I'm glad I tested my epoxy hinges with a light tap before moving any further in the build. WOW, they snapped clean with a VERY light tap. I used a rubber handle from a screwdriver and all 8 hinges...

Pictures of my cockpit install. I used 8 magnets to secure the cockpit in place. I built the back using 1/8" balsa wood and the rails were made out of a hardwood.

Has anyone tried these

They look very solid, but pricey given they are pneumatic.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

People are using Saito 14cc engines which are gas, so if you can make them fit, you'll have some crazy power!
