If the rod is rubbing rhe crankcase then the inside hole on the big end and maybe even the little end have gotten too large.
If the rod had bronze insert bushings, one could ream out the bushings...

You simply need to determine the bore size where the carb goes into the intake on the crankcase and order a Perry carb to match.

Thanks, I have been considering that myself. I was thinking of 3.5mm screws, that way if they ever strip out it would be easy to go with the 4mm screws then. I might even go for the 6-32 SAE size...
