It's been my long understanding that a glow plug once lit via a battery should stay lit on its own. The Platinum on the coil in the plug is mostly responsible for that.

My experience with the 770 is the stock carb isn't very good. Adjustment is poor and so is the throttle barrel setting.
My self and others have replaced the carbs with another brand and they work...

You can also mix the straight ethanol with nitro fuel. Most nitro fuel is about 16-18 percent oil.
So cut it in half for your initial break in and you'll be fine.

Put the original carb back on and test the engine. If it ran last year with that carb then maybe the new carb is the problem. Al least you are eliminating ignition etc.

I put my 770 in my GTM 1/4 DVI. It was a good fit but I couldn't run the collector ring :(
Did not need nose weight but it makes for a heavier plane. I had issues (like everyone else) getting it...
